    Statement of Work

“And I'll dance with you in Vienna,
    I'll be wearing a river's disguise.
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder
my mouth on the dew of your thighs.
And I'll bury my soul in a scrapbook,
with the photographs there and the moss.
And I'll yield to the flood of your beauty,
my cheap violin and my cross.”

    Leonard Cohen, Stranger Songs

    "Twin Flowers"

This work pays particular attention to the act of memorial - the laying of flowers at the site of the victim's passing. Each flower (North Flower and South Flower) are placed at opposite walls of the gallery in reference to the location and layout of the Towers as they once were, giving the viewer opportunity to imagine himself with the towering structures on either side of him as he contemplates events both before, during and after the tragedy.

For me, memorial is elucidated by spiritual and emotional conditions, the essence of which is light and heat.

Memorial is the entity of a collective spirit that I sense exists between the trees and grasses of my local park, Wimbledon Common, London.

Memorial belongs to and is experienced by all that use this park. It is wholly heartfelt and gives purpose to solitary walks.

I search for the residue of memorial in parks, junk shops, roadsides.

I return to the park recurrently to experience it's wake.
