    Statement of Work

My painting,' The Terror and The Strength -9/11', mounted on a 30"X40" canvas, rendered in Oils on torn gold foil in dark umber tones, which lend a glistening effect to the work, was awarded First Place in the Category of Advanced Originals on Paper at a Juried Exhibition at the Houston Civic Art Association, HCAA, in June of 2002. The Events of 9/11 - all three horrific incidents individually represented - on canvas in a montage of images shows both the horror and anguish along with the resolve and courage of a nation to carry-on and rebuild in the face of tragedy.

My painting, titled, 'The Tribute', expresses my feelings in Oils on torn gold paper secured on canvas, for those who lived the actual moments of 9/11. It is meant to serve as a memorial to those who perished or were directly affected on a personal level by the events that took place that fateful day, that scared our nation, forever.

    Resume

The Events of 9/11 - all three horrific incidents indivitually represented on the canvas - began an odyssey which took me on an emotional journey that spanned until the picture's completion.
Many of the symbols represented in the work, proved to be therapeutic: the flag, the lit candle; the Statue of Liberty; the child holding the stuffed animal; the angry eagle, the donor giving blood, etc., evoked a sense of hope and survival and brought about a feeling of healing and resolve for me, as I feel it will convey to others; who may view it.
