This mixed media piece is entitled "From the Ashes."

All Americans were stunned after the 9/11 disaster. For native New Yorkers, I believe, it hit us even harder. For those of us who had connections to people who had worked in that area or died that day,
the feeling of devastation is still alive. My former husband had recently retired from the Port Authority of NY/NJ, having worked on the 71st floor of the north tower. I'd never had a stronger feeling of having to create something. Eventually this piece emerged from scraps of magazines, newspapers, parts of my own drawings and glue sticking to everything. The eagle from this piece symbolizes the rebirth of the Phoenix and the fact that we would emerge even stronger from this devastation.
