Artist's Statement
I am a self-taught artist with a passion for vivid realism. I developed an eye for detail during my twenty-six years as a Port Authority Police Officer. This is reflected in my artwork that focuses on NYC life, which I lived and worked for decades.
My medium is color pencil and it is applied in magnified detail to offer a naturalistic, descriptive style. My objective is to capture a precise moment in time that creates an emotional tie to the viewer. My current project, "The Search for Heroes" was based on my experience as one of the first responders after 9/11. I witnessed tragedy, strength, unity and kindness all of which I believe is depicted in my current work. I chose to do this piece because it is a significant part of my history.
