    Statement of Work

I created this collage titled "Outrage!" right after the destruction of The World Trade Towers on 9/11. I used authentic printers wood type, color, and embellished with exclamation marks to memorialize the event and evoke a sense of outrage which I deeply felt. My niece narrowly escaped the World Trade Tower collapse that morning. She had come to NYC from CA on business and stepped out momentarily before the start of the meeting. Suddenly she heard a loud bang and people running in the streets yelling "RUN!" Without knowing why until later on, she began to run, saving her life.

    Resume

I was awarded the distinction of Delaware By Hand Artisan and as such my work has been exhibited at the Dover Art Museum in Dover, Delaware. I started in the printing industry and then to the collectibles business where I amassed my collection of authentic printers wood type. My third career has been as an artisan where I use some of this wood type to create decor pieces and collages. I use pi which means I do not break an in tact font but use wood type from incomplete fonts. Some of my creations include lamps, coffee tables, side tables, vases, book ends, and various sized and dimensional collages. Some of my work has been purchased and displayed in the office of a magazine editor and lines the lobby wall of an advertising agency. I love working with color drenched wood and giving new life to a process and medium that has moved on from the manual process of setting type by hand into the digital age.
