    Statement of Work

War, conflict, death, disease, suffering, starvation and homelessness all contribute to human affliction and abuse. The series I refer to as People in a Torn World began in 1993 with the first Iraq war and ended shortly after 911—as the events of that day weighed too heavily on me to continue painting. Other works include Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnian, Somalia, Rwanda, Darfur, and many others conflicts. It is less about activism or political position and more about how a tragic event affects an individual person or group.

    Resume

A native of central New York, I moved to New York City after graduating from the University of Denver, Colorado with a bachelor’s in fine arts. History, social issues, and world events have a great effect on my painting and printmaking. Human conflict and suffering have been a common and recurring theme since the early part of my artistic career. However, today I spend more time working as a designer and behind the camera.
