Perth WA Australia
New York’s distinctive city plan and landscape first sparked my passion for architecture, eventually leading me to art. The photograph I took from the Brooklyn Bridge in 1998 became the foundation for my later works, including drawings and a linocut print. Through my recent pieces, I seek to honor the tragedy of 9/11 and celebrate the enduring spirit of New York City.
The Twin Towers have held a special place in my heart, both as an architect and a visual artist, and documenting their presence has been a deeply personal journey.
ABOUT
With a background studying architecture and fine art in Belgium, now a Perth based artist, Lorraine has developed her passion for linear creations and representation of micro structural space. New York’s distinctive city plan and landscape first sparked her passion for architecture, eventually leading her to art.
Through the use of lines or repeated patterns and black ink, she aims to create dreamscapes which sometimes represent reality, sometimes represent something more abstract such as the duality between the nature and the intervention of man on it, or snapshots of brain activity that seem to have a universal echo for the viewers.
Extremely impressed by the beauty and creativity of First Nation Art Lorraine tries to incorporate some profound Australian spirit into her work drawing from the cultural richness that surrounds her.
Lorraine has participated in a solo and several group exhibitions in the Western Australian scene and won several prizes.
