Artist's Statement
Statement of Work
French sculptor Jean-Sébastien RAUD have created a sculpture symbolising the twin towers of New York and this , in tribute to the victims of the WTC.
This sculpture has travelled more than 10,000 miles and has been shown in, Canada-Quebec, and Europe, supported by ministers, senators, deputies, as well as Mr Craig R. STAPLETON U.S. Ambassador in Paris and Mr. MATSUURA, General Director of UNESCO. This work was inaugurated in France at "La Defense", business hub of Paris.
In 2001, profoundly moved by drama of the World Trade Center, he decided to make a hommage to all the victims of September 11. This hommage takes the form of sculpture in bronze; In 2004, he was President of the association " Arts & Liberté". Before parting for New-York and offering this work ( as well as the visitors'book ) to all of New-York, he wanted to bring galvanise the goodwill in this gesture of friendship and fraternity by exposing these works across France, Canada & Switzerland.
The first exhibition " Arts & Liberté "was held at the Palace of Culture of Puteaux from the 2nd to the 29th October, 2004, in the cours of Which the Association of Works of Humanity and Philanthropy awarded him the Gold Medal of Philanthropy; in the same day he received also the medal of honour for the city of Puteaux from mayor, member of Parliament, Mrs Joelle Ceccaldi-Raynaud.
These cities, their Mayors, members of Parliament, Senators, Firemen and citizens, all responded with warmth and friendliness to my representation. A Visitors Book was filled with testimonies of support and bonds that unite our people.
In March 2013, the original work is supported by the President of the French Republic, Mr François Hollande, who warmly accepted exposing her to the “Palais de L'Élysée”

A big moment of emotion while admiring these beautiful sculptures reminding us of the sorrow, revolt, but also of personal joy: our son celebrated his 15th birthday at the top of the tower... we cannot forget this catastrophe. and wanted to be here today to admire your work. I was born in Lausanne...and know Quebec well. I would like for these sculptures to be seen by many people. It is moving . What a symbol.
