    Sally Beck is a local Portage artist. Her art has a realistic style, and her paintings generally depict some point of interest in her life.

    Sally spent some time in Minnesota, her first encounter in art was through informal training from the Head of the Art Department at 3M, Don Neurater. Her interest in painting flourished and she also took and interest in woodcarving for a short period of time.

    In 1987, Sally received the "Craftsman of the Year" plaque from the Kalamazoo Valley Association. Sally also presided as president to the Paw Paw Art Association for three years.

    Sally shows her work locally and has received awards for her paintings. Most recently, her "Checking the Weather" painting won the MERIT AWARD, at the Krasl Art Show in St. Joseph, MI. Sally has twelve grandchildren, and has painted a portrait of each on when they turned a year old. She has shown her painting at the Portage City Hall, Library, and Senior Center.
