Statement of Work
In my collection Remembering Heroes of America I explore the meaning of good and evil, freedom, liberty, the force of divine justice and superheroes. In the process of this exploration, I also honor the memory of the lives lost in the attacks of 9/11. It is all connected in the fabric of creation.
I recognize the firefighters and all the unsung heroes in my work, men and women of great courage, determination and strength. I paint super heroes from the comics of my youth, but these men and women are real and I admire them for their fearlessness. I want to make a tribute to their spirit.
I hope that with my art I can make people feel and believe in liberty and justice, and spread some heroic virtues in the consciousness of society.

BIOGRAPHY
Ecuadorian by birth, Hidalgo, has made the United States his home since 1990 and embraces, breathes and lives painting as a career ever since. Leonardo Hidalgo is one of the busiest Miami based leading artists whose work has attracted international acclaim and is collected worldwide for his fine art paintings and memorable portraits of famous faces. Amazingly, he doesn’t limit his mediums and is widely recognized for his eye popping vibrant color and glitz and glamour timeless executions. He melds photography, computer graphics, pastels, paint and fabric to create his wide variety of individual art pieces. He is one of those artists whose work c¬reates the visual memory of our popular culture.
Hidalgo lived in Arizona, where he went to ASU Tempe, and then later studied at the Fort Lauderdale Art Institute. Since then he has traveled around Europe, Asia and South America where he further cultivated his art skills. He began painting at a very young age after his grandmother taught him the technical aspects of drawing and painting. His main sources of inspiration are traveling, famous people who have changed the world, music, Japanese culture, beautiful woman, history and the magic of every day life and people.
He has been commissioned by corporate, public and private entities, including Marc Anthony, Alejandro Sanz, Hillary Clinton, Janine Howard, Enrique Iglesias, Dan Marino, The Convention Center of Guayaquil, The Jade Miami of Fortune International, The US Open Polo, and has been the official artist of the Supercar Experience for the past four years.
